GlaxoSmithKline Genetics Research Kids Web Site

This site is built around four "interactive educational modules" were created to relate in as simple terms as possible, some of the complex concepts of genetics. Each "game" contains two levels, the first conceptually more basic, the second more advanced. The target audience is middle school.

I designed, prototyped illustrated and art directed all of the modules. I created and animated the character, Professor U. Gene. I wrote modules: DNA, Genes and SNPs.

Kids Genetics Home Page

this page launches the site. It contains a collage of words and images that summarizes the field. Site navigation on top is included in the movie because of the drop down menus.

The "interactive learning activities" are listed individually below (thumbnail shows larger view, and the title launches that module):

genes game

Genes game: you choose dominant and recessive genes to build beetles. See a still image here.

susceptibility genes game

Susceptibility Genes and Disease: you match SNP patterns and susceptibility genes with risk for disease. See a still image here.

DNA and RNA game

DNA and RNA: In level one you build a string of DNA then in level two you build an amino acid. See a still image here.

heredity game

Heredity and Inheritance patterns: you use punnett squares and pedigree charts. See a still image here.
